Is the lack of a Multiple Listing Service (MLS) in the Hamptons hurting or helping clients and customers in Real Estate? I recently was working with a customer as a referral. She explained how a friend of hers and mine insisted she work with several agents as the East End doesn't have a MLS. He explained, wrongly mind you, that going with one broker would only get listings of that agency. While that just isn't true or at least shouldn't be, it's a perception of many. In my situation it ultimately led to more competition which seems to be one argument of the agencies on why they don't want a MLS. What's your opinion? I'd like to know.
